From the recording Numberless Dreams

Poem by W. B. Yeats. Music by Julie Abbé

This tune came to me after hearing about the passing of a dear family friend. The next night I was performing the other Yeats songs and someone told me about this poem. I looked it up and it fitted exactly to the tune I had written the night before, I just had to remove one word.

Lyrics

Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly (...) you tread on my dreams.
